At North Haven School, we believe that a child’s emotional well-being is just as important as their academic success. That’s why we proudly implement The Resilience Project, a research-based program designed to help students develop strong mental health and emotional resilience. By focusing on Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness (GEM), this program gives our students the tools they need to manage life’s challenges with confidence and a positive mindset. Through engaging lessons, practical strategies, and meaningful discussions, students build emotional strength, improve relationships, and develop lifelong habits that support their overall well-being.
We understand that children today face increasing pressures, both in and out of school, and we want to equip them with the skills to navigate these challenges in a healthy way. The Resilience Project helps students recognise and appreciate the good in their lives, show kindness to others, and practice mindfulness to stay present and focused. By integrating these principles into our daily routines, we see students becoming more engaged in their learning, demonstrating kindness in the classroom, and building a school culture that promotes respect, support, and positive connections.
For prospective families considering North Haven School, The Resilience Project is one of the many ways we prioritise student well-being. We are committed to fostering a nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued, and supported in all aspects of their development. When students are emotionally strong and resilient, they are better prepared to learn, grow, and succeed—not just at school, but in life.

At North Haven School, we believe that every child learns best when they are excited and engaged in their learning. That’s why we offer Passion Projects, a unique opportunity for students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and take ownership of their learning. These projects encourage creativity, problem-solving, and independence, allowing students to dive into topics they are genuinely curious about. Whether it’s science, art, technology, sustainability, or community service, Passion Projects help students develop a love for learning while building confidence and perseverance.
By implementing Passion Projects, we are fostering a school culture that values student voice, critical thinking, and real-world learning. Students learn to set goals, manage their time, and present their ideas—important skills that will benefit them well beyond the classroom. At North Haven School, we are committed to providing meaningful learning experiences that empower students to grow, discover their strengths, and shape their own futures.

At North Haven School, we are proud to offer our Soccer Academy, a specialised program designed to develop students' soccer skills while building confidence, teamwork, and resilience. The academy provides high-quality coaching in a supportive and inclusive environment. Training sessions focus on skill development, game strategies, fitness, and sportspersonship, helping students improve both on and off the field.
Students keen to join the Soccer Academy can take part in trials held in Term 4 each year. Successful players will then train one morning a week before school and on Friday afternoons after lunch. We welcome all students who are eager to learn, work hard, and be part of a team that represents North Haven School with pride. Whether students are looking to enhance their skills, prepare for club soccer, or simply enjoy the game in a structured and fun setting, our Soccer Academy provides an excellent opportunity to grow and thrive in the sport.
Our school values—Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience—are at the heart of everything we do. We actively encourage students to show kindness and respect in their interactions, take responsibility for their actions and learning, and develop resilience when facing challenges. By embedding these values into daily school life and providing structured programs to strengthen social skills, we empower students to build positive relationships, handle challenges with confidence, and contribute to a caring and connected school community.

At North Haven School, we understand that students sometimes need support in managing their emotions and feelings throughout the school day. That’s why we focus on co-regulation—helping students recognise and understand their emotions while providing them with the tools to calm and reset. Our staff work alongside students, guiding them through strategies to self-regulate in a positive and supportive way. By building these skills, we empower students to manage challenges, stay engaged in their learning, and develop lifelong emotional resilience.
To support this, we have dedicated spaces within our school designed to help students feel safe and supported. The Nest, located in our junior primary area, provides a calm and welcoming space where younger students can take a moment to reset with the guidance of a caring adult. In our middle primary area, The Interoception Room offers a structured environment for students to practice self-awareness and emotional regulation techniques. These spaces, along with our focus on co-regulation, ensure that every student at North Haven School feels valued, understood, and equipped to navigate their emotions successfully.
At North Haven School, we are committed to helping students develop strong social skills that will support them in school and beyond. Through programs like What’s the Buzz?, we teach students how to communicate effectively, build positive friendships, manage emotions, and navigate social situations with confidence. These engaging lessons provide practical strategies for understanding emotions, solving problems, and working well with others, ensuring our students feel supported as they grow and learn in a safe and inclusive environment.
